Hello everyone,

With so many crews winding down for the season many folks are getting ready to ship their vouchers to regional herbaria and to the Smithsonian. A few reminders on sending vouchers and links to resources on the SOS website:

  1.
Make sure you are reviewing your labels. The geoplatform export template is a great start, but you will still need to review / modify the label so it fits the template standards. Examples are on the SOS website here:

  2.
For the Smithsonian, review this document on the SOS website and PLEASE follow these directions! Guide to Herbarium Specimens for SOS :https://www.blm.gov/sites/default/files/docs/2021-10/Guide%20to%20Herbarium%20Specimens%20for%20SOS.pdf . These shipping guidelines are also good for various regional herbaria.

  3.
For the Smithsonian, make sure that you are also filling out a transmittal notice that will go along with your voucher shipment. Both a federal and non federal version are downloadable from the SOS website.

If you have additional questions about sending to the Smithsonian or a regional Herbarium, please let me know.

For the seeds,

Sarah
