National Coordinating Office Announcements
* If you are new or are onboarding new people make sure they visit the Getting Started page on the SOS website and sign up for the mailing list, collector calls, training, and geoplatform access:

* If you have already attended a training, you should have been sent an email with a link to training recordings and additional resources. Please check your inbox for an email from Sarah Hill, sehill at blm.gov<mailto:sehill at blm.gov>. If you did not receive these resources let Sarah know.
* Updated protocol and associated documents are online! Make sure the protocol version you are using is dated March 2024. If not, go to www.blm.org/sos<http://www.blm.org/sos> to download the most recent version.
* Key updates
* Agency Coordinator list - shows which team is under which agency coordinator
* Differences between agencies – table that outlines slight variations in the SOS process between agencies.
* Updated paper data sheets and paper scouting form
* Example annual report
* Herbarium template
* Make sure to change for different agencies
* NPS seed treatment guidance – If treating seeds on NPS land, read this and make sure you follow this specific protocol!!!
* Note on regional Herbaria
* If you don’t know who your regional herbaria is, look in the protocol. Reach out to them at the beginning of the season to see if they have unique feedback or specifications / are OK with using the SOS label. You can also inquire if they can obscure location details, if they have questions, loop in Sarah Hill.
* Target Species lists due!
* Send to Agency Coordinator ASAP if you haven't already!
* Cleaning facilities – still TBD. Do not ship until you are sure!
* Also remember seed tracking form!

* BLM/NPS: Split between Dorena and Bend, Facility assignments TBD

* Reminder about guidance on a few species for cleaning/collecting on the SOS website

* A request was made to gather information on tools/techniques that are useful for certain species, genera, or seed types.
* If you have a document with this information, or are interested in documenting your efforts this season, please send the document out on the SOS listerv so that others can benefit from it. Additionally, please send it to Sarah Hill, so she can compile the information and make it available for collectors in the future.
GPLAT announcements
* Registration Process
* Remember to go to the getting started page to sign up for geoplatform access. Once you have filled out the registration form and sent in your completed ROB form, it may take up to a week to get the National Operations Center (NOC) to update your permissions from viewer to editor. Once your role is elevated, you will be added to the 2024 pre-season testing group. Once you complete the pre-season testing, you will be added to your official regional collection group for 2024.
* Landowner data
* Several requests have come in for more detailed private landowner data. Because landowner information changes frequently, we cannot provide this information at a national level. Please go to your local county assessor's website to find the most up to date landowner parcel information.
* To view federal, stake, and county landowners in your field maps, turn on the layer group called “Location Calculation Layers”, and nested under that you turn on a specific layer called [YOUR REGION]LandManagementAgency.

* Final 2023 data should be coming out in the next month, almost all tests back from OSU.
