The Upper Snake River Tribes Foundation (USRT) and Adaptation International (AI) are looking for a creative, dynamic, hardworking, and team-oriented person to support the development of a new Tribal Resilience Action Database.
The USRT Foundation works to ensure the protection, enhancement, and preservation of the tribes’ rights, resources, cultural properties, and practices and that they remain secured. These include but are not limited to hunting, fishing, gathering, and subsistence uses.
In partnership with project partners and advisors representing more than a dozen Tribes across the Pacific Northwest Region, the core team will use a collaborative co-production approach to develop a database and web-portal of ongoing climate adaptation strategies to inform adaptation and resilience work in tribal communities across the region and country.
Partners include the Columbia Intertribal Fisheries Commission (CRITFC), the Upper Columbia United Tribes (UCUT), the USGS National Climate Adaptation Science Center, the Pacific Northwest Tribal Climate Change Network, the Northwest Climate Hub, the Climate Impacts Group, the Affiliated Tribes of the Northwest Indians, the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, the Tulalip Tribes, Geos Institute, and Azavea, among others.
This role requires someone who has previous direct experience working with tribes and a strong desire to help support Indigenous communities as they build climate resilience. The ideal candidate is someone who can work semi-independently in a distributed team environment (with weekly check-ins), conduct research, proactively coordinate with other members of the team and the project partners, and think creatively about solving problems.
Deadline: Applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis and the position is open until filled with priority given to applications received on or before June 10th, 2022.
