The BLM AZ state office is looking for a Botanist (Natural Resources Specialist) to manage the botany, special status plants, native plant, invasive species and emergency stabilization and rehabilitation programs for BLM Arizona. See posting below.

Duties

  *   Serves as a recognized expert and technical authority for the botany, special status plants, invasive species and emergency stabilization and rehabilitation programs.

  *   Coordinates and develop statewide budget and annual work plan proposals.

  *   Develops policy and guidance related to native plant materials, special status plants, traditional botany, pollinators, invasive species and emergency stabilization and rehabilitation.

  *   Provides technical assistance to state and field offices for Plant Conservation issues.

  *   Conducts training to assist field personnel recognize, identify, and locate special status species, as well as other vegetative species.

  *   Serves as the primary contact with Headquarters (HQ) in the planning and implementation of botany, special status plants, invasive species and emergency stabilization and rehabilitation programs within the State.

  *   Prepare recommendations for national and state policies and directives, evaluate the content of new or modified legislation for projected impact on the programs and resources, and translate legislation into program goals, actions, and services.

  *   Develops and/or refines new solutions or recommendations to problems that have significant impact on existing Department of Interior (DOI)/BLM policies and programs.

  *   Serves as the primary point of contact for District botany, special status plants, invasive species and emergency stabilization and rehabilitation specialists.

  *   Provides recommendations and guidance based on policy, case law, and national direction.

  *   Reviews environmental documents prepared by the District?s to ensure the analyses are legally sound and defensible.

  *   Prepares contracts, agreements, and/or challenge cost share proposals for botany related inventories, monitoring, and implementation of habitat projects, and other related activities.
