RECOVERY OF SPECIES ON THE BRINK OF EXTINCTION

IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) in partnership with National
Geographic Society (NGS), promote this Request for Proposals (RFP) with the
aim of halting further biodiversity decline.

This quarterly call for proposals will allow applicants to implement IUCN
SSC Species Conservation Plans for species and groups of species.

Proposals that focus on the following themes are encouraged:

   - Specific and defensible priority actions to avert decline of a species
   or group of species;
   - Projects that include the active involvement of early career
   conservationists;
   - Projects that support conservation leaders from the countries where
   the species or group of species occur

Typical proposal requests should be less than $30,000; however, applicants
may request up to $50,000. Successful applicants may use awarded funds over
one or two years.

NOTE: The IUCN SSC Action Plan series assesses the conservation status of
species and their habitats, and outlines conservation priorities. Compiled
by SSC’s Specialist Groups, they are one of the world’s most authoritative
sources of species-related conservation information available to natural
resource managers, conservationists and decision makers around the world.

At present, there are 7 Conservation Action Plans for plants, including:
