The IUCN Global Tree Specialist Group is in the process of conducting a
Global Tree Assessment to assess the conservation status of every known
tree species by the year 2020!

In anticipation, they are working to connect with taxonomic experts who may
have carried out preliminary assessments or be prepared to help with their
particular families or genera. The current priority need is for expertise
in the genera: Aquifoliaceae, Myrtaceae, and Rubiaceae.

IUCN Specialist Groups are networks of taxon/subject matter exports who
work together to address conservation and status information for the
world's biodiversity. Specialist group participation is by invitation only
and generally involves voluntary contributions of time and knowledge in
return for acknowledgement, credit, or bylines, as appropriate, for work
conducted.

If you are interested in contributing your expertise to the Global Tree
Assessment, please contact me at Patricia_DeAngelis at fws.gov with your name,
affiliation, and tree taxon/taxa expertise so that I may make an
introduction.
