*LANDSCAPE TEAM LEAD*



Apricot Lane Farms, a Biodynamic/Organic farm is looking for a responsible
individual to manage and execute any and all needs of the Apricot Lane
Farms Landscaping needs while striving to maintain the principles of
Biodynamic and Organic Farming.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
-Upkeep of any and all landscape needs as directed by management.
-Collaborates with Habitat Restoration Lead in regards to overlap with
Habitat and Landscape needs.
-Schedule/Monitor irrigation of plant/trees to ensure sufficient watering.
-Oversight and performance of daily task, including but not limited to,
dead-head plants, pruning, and mulching, planting, mowing, weed whacking,
blowing, trimming, trenching, digging, trash clearing and hand weeding.
-Train the field crew for proper planting, pruning, irrigation installation
and maintenance procedures.
-Oversee and perform upkeep needs of various areas around the farm,
including but not limited to, gates and call boxes at main entrances, as
well in and around farm buildings.
-Prepare schedule for planting, replanting, pruning, treating diseased
plants and trees,, gopher trapping as needed, seeding and seed collection,
transplants, etc.
-Work closely with the Livestock Team to identify and make a plan regarding
plants that may be poisonous to the animals.

Candidate Must Have:
-Minimum 3 years experience with organic landscape methods such as hand
weeding, etc.
-Knowledge of California Native and a wide range of plants including
annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees
-Be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds
-Supervisory Experience
-Be able/willing to work in a variety of extreme weather conditions
-Irrigation Experience
-Capable of working under pressure and independently as necessary as well
as handling a diverse range of responsibilities
-Ability to work as a team member maintaining positive work relations of
staff & volunteers.
-Ability to operate all tools, vehicles, and equipment required for use by
garden staff
-Ability to interact with all levels of management and staff
-For safety purposes, the ability to swim is required

*LIVESTOCK AND PASTURE MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT *



Apricot Lane Farms is a 214-acre organic and biodynamic farm looking for a
Livestock and Pasture Maintenance assistant. This program utilizes
biodynamic and rotational practices. Equally as important to caring for the
livestock is caring for the land and soil on which they are raised. The
Livestock/Pasture Maintenance Assistant oversees all aspects of the daily
care, feeding, and life support system maintenance of our diverse
collection of animals and pastures.

This position work will include work with volunteers from our WWOOF program
on a daily basis.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Responsible for any and all livestock needs at Apricot Lane Farms.

• This is hourly position is structured as a six-day/week position, 6:30 AM
- 4PM with a 1/2 hour lunch break. However, farming by nature, requires
long hours. Therefore, this position may require early mornings and late
nights, and on call duties.

• Performs daily tasks including, but not limited to, tending to the water
and food of all animals, sheering sheep, moving animals from one area to
another, organizing supplies, building & moving fences, moving chicken
coops, monitoring grass levels, closing chicken coop doors, and mucking
stalls.

• Assist and facilitate the vetting of animals, under the direction of the
Livestock Manager and John Chester.

• Perform mowing, fertilizer application, cultivating, spraying and more in
the animal pastures of Apricot Lane as needed.

• Assists in the birth of all animals across the property and may be on
call at all hours of the day or night to do so.

• On call as needed to conduct night visits to check on sick animals,
nursing animals or animals that are left out in the pasture or orchard.

• Responsible for training and overseeing the work of WWOOFer assistants as
related to livestock/pastures.

• Support the farm's needs outside of all core responsibilities, including,
but not limited to, irrigation work, supporting the needs of the orchards,
building structures, installing and repairing fencing, tractor operation,
running errands and addressing reasonable requests by Farm Management.


Requirements:
• Ability to maintain clear communication with others
• Detail oriented
• ORGANIZED
• Sincere passion for livestock/animals and the land/animals/ecosystem
(especially soil!)
• PREFERRED 6 months to a year farm experience with livestock
• PREFERRED 6 months or more farm experience
• PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED with Holistic Animal Husbandry
• PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED 6 months or more farm experience with Organic
Animal Husbandry
• PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED Animal Welfare Certification

*HOLISTIC POULTRY PROGRAM ASSISTANT*



Apricot Lane Farms, a 214 acre Biodynamic and Organic farm, is looking for
a new Assistant for our Holistic Poultry Program. This is a long term
position that will grow along with the Farm.

This program utilizes biodynamic practices in combination with
pasture/livestock rotational practices for over 1,000 birds in several
different mobile coops varying in age throughout the year from 1 day old
chicks/ducklings to 18-month old adult chickens/ducks. Equally as important
to caring for the chickens is caring for the land and soil on which they
are raised.

Our Poultry Program consists of three components : Layer (Eggs) and
Roasters (Meat) and Ducks. All are run in coordination with each other
throughout the year in order to accommodate for scheduling and space
requirements.


Principal Accountabilities:

• Assist with Mobile Coop Moves during morning animal chores including
tractor work and taking down and putting up mobile fences
• General tasks such as deep clean of coop, checking on
chickens'/ducks' well-being, collecting eggs, making sure poultry's basic
needs are met, general coop maintenance, coop doors shut at end of day
(chicken safety), etc.
• Assist with general tasks (including but not limited to
chicken/duck chores, egg tower cleaning, chicken processing, close ups,
transfers at night, etc.)
• Assist with egg production including but not limited to hand washing
approx. 150-400 eggs on a daily basis (including weighing eggs, sorting
eggs, preparing eggs for sale boxes, selling eggs to staff weekly, stamping
boxes, logging all information on excel, etc.)
• Assist with program schedule (E.T.A. of baby chicks in spring, summer and
fall, Processing of adult chickens spring, summer and fall, expansion
deadlines and projects, organizing/cleaning different parts of the program
areas, coordinating coop moves around other departments and around seasonal
situations, etc.)
• Assist with Chicken Processing
