Botanist GS-0430-09/11

The Chippewa National Forest (CNF) will soon advertise for the position of 
Forest Botanist GS-0430 -9/11, located on the Chippewa National Forest in 
Cass Lake MN. This outreach is being circulated to inform prospective 
applicants of this upcoming employment opportunity and to determine 
interest.

Duties of this position include:

* Provides leadership for the development or expansion of forestwide 
skills in botany technical analysis.
* Performs duties such as providing technical assistance for threatened, 
endangered, sensitive, and rare plants, recommending mitigation measures, 
monitoring selected populations, or developing conservation plans.
* Serves as the Forest steward for all botany related planning, reporting 
and GIS databases.
* Reviews environmental assessments and environmental impact statements 
and makes recommendations to ensure that botanical resources and ecosystem 
integrity are adequately addressed and considered.
* Performs on-the-ground investigations of complex ecological and 
botanical conditions in support of botanical and other resource project 
accomplishment. Classifies plant communities. Serves as the forest 
specialist in the identification, inventory and treatment of noxious and 
exotic plants.
* Provides advice, guidance, and information to other agencies, state and 
local governments, and the public on botanical resource issues. Assists in 
partnership development and/or collaboration for botanical resource 
related enhancement and restoration projects to private and governmental 
entities. May serve as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) with 
regard to monitoring such activities.
