[PCA] FY 2013 Request for Proposals: DoD Legacy Program - Updated Areas of Emphasis - Deadline: AUGUST 30, 2012

The DoD Legacy Resource Management Program Request for Pre-Proposals has 
been released for FY13.

Pre-proposals are DUE NO LATER THAN AUGUST 30, 2012. The full RFP and

Overview:

Three general principles have guided the Legacy Program since its 
inception ¡V stewardship, leadership, and partnership. 

5 themes (in brief):
1. Implement interdisciplinary approach to resource stewardship that takes 
advantage of the similarities between DoD's natural and cultural resources 
programs. 
2. Promote understanding and appreciation for natural and cultural 
resources. 
3. Incorporate an ecosystem approach that assists DoD in maintaining 
biological diversity and the sustainable use of land and water resources.
4. Achieve common goals and objectives by applying resource management 
initiatives in broad regional areas (such as the Great basin Initiative).
5. Identification of innovative new technologies that enable more 
efficient and effective management. 

Eligibility:
Any individual, organization (public or private), institution or other 
entity can apply for Legacy Program funding, if requirements are met. Each 
project must: 
„X Have regional or DoD-wide significance and involve more than one 
Military Service; 
„X Be necessary to meet legal requirements or to support military 
operations; 
„X Be more effectively managed at the DoD level; and 
„X Not be an executive agent responsibility. (An executive agent is a 
Military Department with designated responsibility over an area. For 
example, the Navy is the executive agent for sonar issues. Therefore, any 
Legacy proposals directly relating to sonar are not fundable.)

Streamlining the Identification & Management of DoD Cultural Resources
Streamlining the Evaluation of DoD Cultural Resources
