What will you learn?
A discussion on the role of values in Indigenous knowledge systems and how these values guide cultural interrelationships with medicinal plants.  Dr. Nancy Turner will discuss her work exploring ways to integrate Indigenous ways of knowing with western scientific frameworks, the differences between these systems, and how to ensure exchanges of knowledge occur within a context of respect and reciprocity. Leigh Joseph will talk about her community-based research and work focused on revitalizing cultural plant practices and knowledge as a way to contribute to cultural resurgence in collaboration with the Indigenous communities with whom she works.
