I have a research technician position open in my program. This is a
permanent position located in western North Carolina. This technician will
work with vegetables, medicinal herbs, organics, and other specialty crops
primarily in western North Carolina but sometimes across the state. The job
will include field, greenhouse, lab, and office work. Statistics and
writing skills are very important.

AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH TECHNICIAN III


Salary Grade: 67 $28,195-$43,484 GRADUATION FROM A 2-YEAR AGRICULTURAL
INSTITUTE AND 4 YEARS OF RELATED EXPERIENCE* Vacancy # 421621 Maintain
field and greenhouse experiments and apply treatments; collect data and
maintain detailed research notebooks; establish experiments, on-farm
trials, and demonstrations; develop experimental designs and statistically
analyze data; prepare plant material for analysis and do some lab analyses;
supervise temporary employees and interns; prepare PowerPoint presentations
and posters; maintain inventory and order supplies. Also give presentations
at field days and meetings; assist with writing and editing articles and
websites; design and install drip irrigation systems and shade structures;
travel to research and on-farm trials across the state. About 40% in
office, 60% in field, woods, greenhouse or lab. Prefer BS in horticulture,
agronomy, or plant science with statistical coursework; field research,
organic agriculture, agricultural statistics, growing horticultural crops.
Computer, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and writing skills. Must have or
be able to obtain pesticide license when employed. position located at
