Subject: Fw: Eastern Lobbying at NIWAW Meeting Report
Last Friday, I participated in an on-line discussion to explore the idea of
developing a coordinated effort at National Invasive Weed Awareness Week to
seek Congressional sponsors for eastern terrestrial and aquatic invasive
plant control funding legislation. The idea was to request legislation
similar to the Salt Cedar and Russian Olive Control and Demonstration Act
bills, currently before Congress from the western U.S. For our purposes we
have defined the east as the following states; AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL
,IN, IA, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, PA, RI,
SC,TN, VT, VA, WV, WI, DC. Attached are the notes from the discussion.
Please note that this effort would be in addition to supporting the NIWAW
position papers.

I really appreciate everyone's participation in today's meeting and your
enthusiasm to move forward with a request for eastern invasive plant
control funding legislation. Attached please find a copy of the meeting
notes and copies of the NIWAW position papers.

or individuals that might be interested in participating in our coalition.
We have much work to complete prior to the next meeting on February 3rd.
PSB suggested we consider a name for this coalition. Please forward any
