2005 Texas Invasive Plant Conference Call for Papers

The first statewide Invasive Plant Conference will be held in Austin, Texas
at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center November 17th & 18th, 2005. This
notice serves as a call for abstracts and all stakeholders are invited and
encouraged to present some aspect of their work in a contributed
presentation or poster. Abstracts and final program will be available online
at www.texasinvasives.org prior to the meeting and hard copies will be
distributed at the conference to registrants.

Submission of Abstracts ­ Abstract submissions will be carried out online at
http://www.texasinvasives.org, select Submit Abstract under State
Conference. The deadline for receiving abstracts is October 21, 2005. Each
contributed presentation or poster requires an abstract.

Presentations - Presentations will be 20 minutes in length. This includes a
17-18 minute oral presentation with 2 to 3 minutes for questions and
discussion. Presentations will be given during individual sessions in the
Session Topics below. All presentation rooms will be equipped with computers
and data projectors capable of PowerPoint and Internet presentations.
Presentations should be in PowerPoint format and stored on portable media
such as CD-Rom or USB drive.

Posters - Posters will be accepted on a space-available basis. Contributed
posters must be designed to fit a panel and must not exceed 46 inches wide
by 45 inches tall. Instructions for poster preparation are also available
online under the Call for Papers.

Session Topics - The main program for the statewide Invasive Plants
Conference is based on seven key strategies from the National Invasive
Species Council's 2001 National Management Plan.

1. Leadership and Coordination
2. Early Detection and Rapid Response
3. Control and Management
4. Restoration
5. Research
6. Information Management
7. Education and Public Awareness
