Hello everyone,
We were just made aware of a new updates to field maps. Please make sure to sync your data and bring backup paper data sheets if you are heading into the field tomorrow.
From the BLM GIS community:
I am not sure what impact this may have, but apparently there is some concern that users may face issues such as data loss or being signed out and required to sign in again while in the field without an internet connection. In addition to the information provided in the forwarded email below, here is additional guidance I received from another source:
An ESRI Alert is circulating among the GIS Community today. Anyone who is currently using Field Maps or may have collected data on currently stored on their devices please act TODAY, 09/23/2025, to prevent data loss.
ALERT
ESRI announced that Field Maps Next Gen is launching tomorrow, 9/24/2025. If folks have their mobile device set to auto-update from the app store and are connected to a network, it will download the new version of Field Maps.
IMPORTANT- We were told that users will get logged out of their account and will need to log in after the application update. There could be data loss if users don't sync their data before the application updates.
Recommended Actions: Sync your data. Update the App when you are ready (after a period of field data collection).
For iOS is Apple/iOS: 1. Go to Settings > Apps > App Store. 2. Turn App Updates off (Cellular too if applicable).
For Android: Go into the play or other app store and turn off auto update apps.
Let use know if you have any questions,
