Hi everyone,

Thanks to everyone who joined the call this week - if it was your last call, thank you so much for your hard work this season!
Below are the notes:

  *   End of Season Reminders
     * We went over how to export data from the SOS Web Portal or from your SOS Geoplatform Group. This is a great way to check your data at the end of the season! Please make sure you are not leaving any fields blank or incomplete.
     * All annual reports, photos, and data forms are due to me by December 15th. If you have any questions, please email me or reference the guidance documents on the SOS website.
        *
  *   Bend Updates
     * Kayla has accepted a brand new position as the National Seed Specialist within the Forest Service National Reforestation and Nursery Program - congratulations, Kayla!!! While Kayla will still be available to answer seed related questions, she will be transitioning from being the main point of contact for the extractory. So, for now, if you have any questions for Bend, please send them to me and I will make sure they get to Sarah Garvin, the assistant manager or another appropriate Bend contact. However, Sarah is out on detail for another four weeks, so any questions, especially about seed orders or clearance forms that can wait until November, please hold onto them (or send them to me and then remind me to send them to Sarah in November :) ).
     * # of Collections: Please be very judicious about making any SOS collections that will go over your original estimated collection total. Bend is experiencing capacity and staffing issues, and while they have been extremely accommodating in the past about taking on extra work and opportunistic SOS collections, that will not be the case this year, and we are operating within a very small buffer, as are their other clients.
What that means for you -
In order to ensure that all the collections which were originally planned for can get cleaned and processed, please check with me first before sending any opportunistic collections to Bend. While many folks are wrapping up for the year, there are still crews who, due to later phenology, are just hitting their peak collecting season. Thus, in order to be fair to everyone and not shut out later season collections, please hold onto any collections that are not a priority. As more crews start to wrap up, Bend will be able to give us a better idea of how many more collections they can reasonably accept. There are several crews who will probably not meet their target number due to drought, but until we have more definitive numbers, please communicate with me about additional collections.
     * December 15th is also the deadline to ship seeds to Bend! Please send your seeds sooner rather than later. This will also allow Bend to be able to tell us if they will be able to accept any additional opportunistic collections.
     *
  *   Next Season!
     * I asked those who were on the call to let me know if they are planning on collecting again next season. If you were not on the call and know you will be collecting next season, please let me know, especially if you would like to attend SOS training. The sooner we know when and where folks will be collecting, the sooner we can get training dates on the calendar.

Our next call is will be October 4th.

Thanks,
Anna
