Interested in gaining field experience with reforestation practices?

The BLM CA/NV Forestry program is recruiting for multiple cone collection personnel in several of our Field Offices in partnership with American Forests, aimed at increasing our seed inventory for reforestation projects. The personnel will hopefully onboard in June and run cone surveys and cone collection activities until the fall.

If you are interested in receiving information on how to apply for American Forests's 2022 field season for conifer cone collection, please fill out the following interest list.   This work will include seed tree survey and cone collection training, surveying and mapping seed tree locations throughout California, developing request for proposals and contracts with collection experts, contract administration, and providing on-site support during seed collections. Field assistants will gain valuable experience working with federal partners, including the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS). Additional work may include volunteer management, community engagement, program development, and other field and crew support activities. Seeds collected from this project will be grown and planted in future reforestation projects.
