Hi everyone,

Thanks to those who were able to attend our first call of 2022!

Here are the call notes:

  * Monthly calls and listserv: These calls will always be the first Tuesday of the month, on Microsoft Teams. If you can't be at a computer, there is always an audio call-in number associated with the Team's invite. These calls are required for all actively participating SOS collecting teams. Please send at least one team representative to every call. Our next call is March 1st.
     * All call notes and reminders will go out over this listserv. The SOS listserv is a two-way listserv, so feel free to submit any questions, job postings, or relevant research/articles. The SOS listserv archive is a great way to review past call notes.
  * Last year, just over 400 collections were made, which is an amazing accomplishment considering the pandemic and extreme drought! These collections were made in 10 different states and 20 different ecoregions. 243 different taxa were collected by 32 different teams.
  * Training: Our first training is next week, February 8th and 9th. This and all the other trainings this year will continue to be virtual - which is wonderful for accessibility - but a good reminder to team leaders and mentors to please make sure you are getting some quality, hands-on time with your crews and providing rigorous oversight to produce lovely seed collections.
     * If you are going to be collecting this year and would like to attend the February training, please let me know so I can send you the Zoom link. Information for the April 19th and 20th training, and the May 10th and 11th training will be sent out closer to the date.
     * All of these trainings are invite-only, meaning they are meant for active collectors, mentors, and partners. Please do not share the invitation with anyone outside of your collecting team.
  * Target Species Lists: Each team should develop a target species list in coordination with their state and ecoregional botanists. These lists are due to me by April 30th. A template can be found on the SOS website, blm.gov/sos
  * SOS Web Portal: All passwords for the SOS Web Portal will be updated over the next couple of weeks. Please let me know if you need an updated password sooner rather than later.
  * Finally, if you did not attend the call this week and you will be collecting this year, please let me know ASAP! I cannot provide you good technical support, invite you to the trainings, or send you plant puns if I do not know you are collecting :)

Thanks,
Anna
