Happy Spring!

Thanks to everyone who joined us on the April call this week. It was great to hear about how much greening up is happening!

Here are the call notes:

  * Training: Our next SOS training is April 19th and 20th through the BLM National Training Center. If you are an active SOS partner and would like to attend, please email me. Our next training opportunity is May 10th and 11th.
  * Target Species Lists: These lists are due to me by May 30th. Please use the template on the SOS website. If you have already sent me your list, but there are updates, please let me know.
  * Digital Data Collection: First, thank you to everyone who is piloting our digital data collection workflow this season!!! Your feedback and patience thus far has been wonderful. Despite our best efforts, ESRI apps can be finicky sometimes, so you should have all gotten emails about downloading new offline areas, a new collection form, and updating your other forms. If you have any questions, please let me know. Remember to take screenshots just in case! Also, when you do encounter errors, please follow the chain of communication we covered in our trainings: collector > team lead > team mentor > SOS Curator (me) > Geospatial support staff. In May I will start reaching out to crews to set up some mid-season check-ins about the digital data collection.
  * Bend updates: Bend is almost done cleaning the 2021 collections, and as we enter another season the most important thing is always to make sure your seeds are packaged REALLY well. Additionally, please do not staple the paper data forms to your bags of seeds. Either place them in the box, or in the bag.
  * Hiring: Just a reminder that this is a two way listserv. You can use it to ask questions of other collectors, but also to share job postings. I know folks have been having a tough time hiring seasonal positions this year, so if you would like to cast your net wide, just send an email to sos at lists.plantconservation.org with the job details and it will go out to the 700 folks who are subscribed. Or, you can send me the information and I will post it for you.

The next call will be May 3rd

Thanks,
Anna
