Hi all,

I hope you are all staying safe and well. We will have our monthly SOS call on Tuesday, May 5th.

Seeds of Success celebrates its 20th anniversary! In May, 2000 the BLM and Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew signed a Benefit and Cost Sharing Agreement for BLM to participate in the Millennium Seed Bank Project by developing a seed collection program for the United States and providing seeds from 2,000 native plant populations found on BLM lands to the Millennium Seed Bank.

Seeds of Success has grown so much over the last two decades thanks to you all, our dedicated collecting teams and partners.

We will be sharing posts over social media next week to celebrate our successes. I encourage you all to check out the Plant Conservation Alliance Facebook Page www.facebook.com/PlantConservationAllianc<https://www.facebook.com/PlantConservationAlliance/>e and the National Seed Strategy Twitter page @NatSeedStrategy

With everything going on right now, it's a great time to reflect on all the amazing work we have accomplished together so far. SOS has made over 25,000 seed collections, these collections have been used by researchers across the world from the US, China, Italy, Egypt and so many more countries. Some of our seed has even made it to Svalbard! SOS collections have been used to improve native plant germination practices, storage protocols, and ultimately in on the ground restoration projects across the West. We have also helped train the next generation of botanists and conservationists.

Keep an eye out this fall for our celebration of 20 years since Congress directed federal agencies to develop a long-term program to manage and supply native plant materials for various Federal land management restoration and rehabilitation needs!

This month's call we will go over a few highlights and accomplishments, some SOS trivia, and then round robin to check in on the status of teams.

All mentors, team leads, and collectors who will (or may) have an SOS team this year should plan to attend this call and all calls this season.

Monthly calls are always the first Tuesday of the month at the following time:

8 AM Alaska
9 AM Pacific
10 AM Mountain
11 AM Central
Noon Eastern

Please contact me directly if you need the call-in number.

Thanks everyone,

Leah
