Restoration Ecologist
Salary range $45-60K, depending on qualifications and experience.
BFI Natives is seeking a candidate who desires a career in Restoration
Ecology, and wants to be part of a company that is dedicated to native
habitat restoration.  This position is located in Central Washington.


Required Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications

   - Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources, Botany, or Ecology.
   - Effective communication and team coordination skills
   - Ability to interact well with clients and colleagues
   - Technical writing experience; ability to write project proposals and
   summary reports
   - Pacific Northwest Plant Identification
   - Familiarity with Shrub-Steppe/Grassland ecology and scientific
   vegetation monitoring
   - Organizational skills; ability to set-up and maintain job-tracking
   system
   - Expertise with personal computers, including word processing and
   spreadsheet programs
   - Problem solving skills; ability to adapt quickly to changing
   circumstances
   - Willingness to work in harsh outdoor conditions
   - Preferred – Equipment operation experience (e.g. pickups, tractors,
   ATV’s, GPS equip., etc)


Assigned Tasks and Duties

   - Quality control oversight of all restoration projects
   - Coordinate with Project Management staff to ensure quality completion
      of all projects
      - Monitor progress throughout all stages of each project
   - Write restoration project proposals and develop implementation budgets
   - Lead restoration-related bidding and estimating
   - Attend pre-bid site visits with agencies and construction companies to
      connect with interested companies and obtain necessary bidding information
      - Serve as Company liaison during bidding process by contacting all
      primes, getting quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, and being
      available to primes to answer questions.
      - Compile relevant costing data to support estimates (e.g. employee
      timesheets, materials costs, herbicide costs, etc.)
   - Restoration Sales
   - Pursue existing construction projects to sell our Company’s
      restoration services
      - Monitor Construction Council and other websites to locate relevant
      projects.
      - Pursue agency contract opportunities for restoration services
   - Manage sub-contractors
   - Assist staff ecologists in the writing of consulting reports and memos
