*The NASSTEC Project*

NASSTEC (The NAtive Seed Science, TEchnology and Conservation Initial
Training Network - Contract N. PITN-GA-2013-607785 - 1.4.2013-31.3.2018) is
a Marie Curies Multi partner Initial training Network focused on native
seed science, conservation and use, promoting the use of native seeds for
grassland restoration, building the capacity in local companies for large
scale native seed production, carrying out demonstrative pilot projects and
lobbying the relevant stakeholders to widely promote the use of native
seeds in land restoration.

A full time fixed term appointment from May 2014 to March 2018

MUSE is looking for an exceptional individual, proficient in English, with
experience in the management of European projects to assist the coordinator
in running the NASSTEC partnership. The desired candidate will have a
degree in natural/environmental subjects, be a dynamic and resourceful
person, capable of coordinating projects, facilitating and promoting
communication and interaction with all people and institutions, managing
project meetings and network training events, preparing briefing documents,
agendas, minutes and actions points, updating the project IT infrastructure
and social media, preparing reports and contributing to deliverables,
monitoring progress, reminding partners of deadlines and tasks, promoting
the outreach programme and contacting stakeholders.

*11 ESR - Early Stage Researcher positions, closing 16/5/2014*



ESR positions are mobility grants aimed at early stage researchers;
eligible candidates must:

- be in the first 4 years of the academic career;

- not have resided in the hosting country for more than 12 months in the
previous 3 years

As part of their training they will take part in 2 summer schools (Seed
collecting in Gijon, Spain and Seed germination & processing in Pavia,
Italy), to 3 specialist workshops (Molecular Diversity in Dundee, Scotland,
IPR, patenting and funding at Enkhuizen, in the Netherlands, education and
outreach in Trento, Italy) and the final conference on Native seeds for
environmental mitigation in Kew, UK. Additional activities include 3 one
month secondments to other network partners, 3 network annual meetings,
various exchange visits and an education and outreach programme. The ESR
will be formally registered to the NASSTEC PhD at the University of Pavia,
Italy that will award the PhD qualification upon successful completion of
the 3 year NASSTEC training and research programme.

NASSTEC research programme is subdivided into 3 subprogrammes:

A - In situ seed sampling

B - Seed biology characterisation

C - Production and deployment of seed.

At *MUSE, Trento, Italy*. 2 positions:

*ESR 1A         - A bio-geographical approach to species selection for
mitigation projects*

*ESR 11C       - Certification of seed quality and provenance*

Contract type: A full time fixed term appointment from October 2014 to
September 2017

Salary EURO 49,462.40 per annum (gross amount including all taxes and
insurance paid by the employer) + family allowance, if due.



At the *Royal Botanic Gardens Kew*, Seed Conservation Department, Wakehurst
Place, Surrey, *UK*, 2 positions:

*ESR 7B          - Life history traits in contrasting environments -
intra-species variation in stress tolerance. *

*ESR 9C         - Propagation and seed multiplication protocols for
herbaceous flora.*

Contract type: A full time fixed term appointment from October 2014 to
September 2017

Salary EURO 62,361.60 per annum (gross amount including all taxes and
insurance paid by the employer) + family allowance, if due.



At the *University of Pavia, Italy*, 2 positions:

*ESR 4B         Bio-geographical aspects of seed dormancy.*

*ESR 6B         Seed longevity in storage.*

At *Scotia Seeds*, Brechin, Angus, *Scotland,* *UK,* 1 position:

*ESR 8C          Improving seed quality in large-scale production.*

At *Semillas Silvestres*, *Cordoba, Spain*, 2 positions:

*ESR 2A          Selection of high-quality grasses for the Mediterranean
and Continental bio-region.*

*ESR 5B          Propagation protocols for the restoration of grassland
habitat in Europe.*

Contract type: A full time fixed term appointment from October 2014 to
September 2017

Salary EURO 45,332.80 per annum (gross amount including all taxes and
insurance paid by the employer) + family allowance, if due.



At the* James Hutton Institute*, *Dundee, Scotland, UK*, 1 position:

*ESR 3A         Methods for seed and seedling phenomics.*

Contract type: A full time fixed term appointment from October 2014 to
September 2017

Salary EURO 62,361.60 per annum (gross amount including all taxes and
insurance paid by the employer) + family allowance, if due.



At *Syngenta Seeds,* *Enkhuizen, The Netherlands*, 1 position:

*ESR 10C       Seed pre-treatments of native species for optimal
establishment, for use in in-situ restoration.*

Contract type: A full time fixed term appointment from October 2014 to
September 2017

Salary EURO 48,302.40 per annum (gross amount including all taxes and
