Collectors Call Notes
September 6, 2011

There were 23 participants on the SOS call. These teams have reportedly made more than 500 collections in the 2011 season (please note this represents only a portion of the total SOS seed collection teams reporting)

Data Sheets:

- Please send them to the National Office as soon as they are available. Contact info is available at http://www.nps.gov/plants/sos/protocol/appendix1.htm.

- Electronic copies are fine to be emailed to mahaidet at blm.gov<mailto:mahaidet at blm.gov>

- If you email data sheets you do not need to follow up by sending hard copies.

- Keep a record in your office's SOS file.

- Send them with the seed to Bend.

Annual Report:

- There is a template available at http://www.nps.gov/plants/sos/training/index.htm

- Due by Dec. 31, 2011

Clearance Forms:

- Please delay all spring seed project needs until the spring. Bend is nearly finished with 2010 seed cleaning and we would like them to finish this asap. Thus, return requests that are not for urgent fall projects should be pushed back to spring.

- You can still send the clearance forms now, just make sure the return date is appropriate for when you NEED the seed.

- Please allow a month lead time to process the priorities for return.

Note from Bend:

- If you're collecting anything with awns (from the genus Aristida), please remove as much of the stem as possible. These can be very difficult to clean.

Seed Collection for Restoration Course - April 24-26 in Las Vegas, focus on new mentors within BLM.

Next Call - Regularly scheduled call is 10/4 but will be rescheduled for 10/11.
