Larry Weaner Landscape Associates (LWLA) seeks a versatile landscape professional who can assist with the installation and maintenance of meadow, woodland, and garden projects in Westchester and Columbia Counties in New York, Fairfield County in Connecticut, and New Jersey. This is a full-time position that reports to the jobsite directly.  

Founded in 1982, Larry Weaner Landscape Associates is a native landscape design firm based out of Pennsylvania, with clients throughout the North East. Our natural landscapes are nationally recognized for their unique blend of environmental science and fine garden design. We have over 30 years of experience designing and installing gardens and natural areas throughout the eastern U.S. 

Overall Qualifications:

Must have knowledge and experience working on traditional garden maintenance and ecological restoration projects. 

 

The candidate must be comfortable interacting with clients and managing/working with field crews while representing LWLA with the highest level of professionalism. 

 

The candidate must be willing to travel and have their own vehicle.

 

Specific qualifications:
 


	Ability to safely operate commercial grade power equipment including string trimmers, hedge trimmers, pole pruners
	A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in landscape projects: Planting, pruning, experience with small equipment, laying out plant designs, string trimming, mowing, integrated pest management, restoration planting.
	Ability to identify native and invasive plants in the field.
	Understanding of the ecological roles/life cycles of native and invasive species.
	Experience managing landscape installation and management crews.
	Ability to read and understand design drawings, landscape plans, designer direction, and client feedback
	Attention to detail, observant, organized.
	Ability to work in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
	Ability to lift 50 lbs.
	Excellent customer relations, with outstanding written and verbal communication.
	Mature decision-making, organizational, and problem solving skills.
	Valid driver's license and comfortable driving vans/trucks.
	Tech savvy and able to work in the field with laptop and smartphone
	Ability to travel up to 70% of the time (NJ, PA, NY, CT).
	Proficiency in proper pruning techniques for a variety of ornamental shrubs and trees.
	Pesticide license in NY, CT, NJ, or PA (preferred) 


Responsibilities of this hands-on position include: 


	Assisting in implementation of a variety of garden and ecological restoration projects (both planting and construction).
	Primary overseer of maintenance in meadow, woodland, and garden projects that vary in scale.
	Communication with clients regarding site visits and scheduling.
	Site monitoring visits.  
	Preparation of site visit reports and related documentation.
	Plant and equipment pick-ups (a driver’s license and clean driving record are essential).
	Assisting with project site analysis/design pending demonstration of appropriate skills and knowledge.
	Documenting projects with photos, reports and associated paperwork.
