Hello,

Yosemite National Park will soon be hiring biological science technician positions within the Branch of Vegetation and Ecological Restoration. These positions will be at several levels, including crew members, assistant crew leaders, and crew leaders. The job announcements will have an opening date for applications beginning 10/29/2021 and closing date of 11/5/2021 or after 125 applications per announcement has been received, which may mean the job announcements could close prior to 11/5/2021.

The duties for these positions will include invasive plant management, pollinator habitat restoration, and rare plant monitoring and protection. The majority of the work will revolve around invasive plant survey and treatment projects. The use of chemical herbicide will be a regular part of the job.

These are federal positions at the GS 5-GS 7 level, with a pay rate ranging from $16.90-$20.93/hour. They will have an 8-9 month work season, beginning mid-March to early April 2022. They will have a seasonal end date of late November to early December, and begin work again in spring of 2023 without the need of another application.

The jobs will be posted on www.USAJobs.gov under the following job announcement numbers:

GS 5 level positions: PW-1549-YOSE-22-11278394-DE

GS 6 and 7 level positions will be in the same job announcement: PW-1549-YOSE-22-11275345-DE

Note that applicants must complete an online USA Hire Assessment, which may take up to three hours to complete, in order to be considered for these positions. This is a new requirement for many federal positions. Review the application carefully to make sure you understand this process and respond promptly to follow up emails to take the assessment.

Additional GS 5-GS 7 biological science technician positions for several work crews will be open for applications in late November-early December.

Please share widely with any interested parties.

Please feel free to reach out to David_M_Campbell at nps.gov for additional information.

I will send out another outreach when the application link is live.

Thank you,
