Director, Community Engagement Manager, and Education Manager

*Overview: Budburst is our community science program related to plant
phenology and plant-animal interactions. Come join us and work at the
intersection of science, education, and engagement with our fun team!

*Position: Budburst Community Engagement Manager

This position will support the community engagement initiatives of the
Budburst community science program. In this position, you will develop
outreach materials, train educators, and support community partners (e.g.
nature centers, youth clubs) as they participate in Budburst and Budburst
research projects. You will work with partners in the Chicago Park District
and Forest Preserves of Cook County to engage their staff, volunteers, and
visitors in the program. You will represent Budburst at community events
and science festivals, leading hands-on activities and workshops. You will
communicate news and spread program awareness through the Budburst
e-newsletter and social media channels. You will be a key member of a team
of passionate scientists and educators dedicated to engaging the public
with plants, science, and ecology.

*Position: Budburst Director

The Chicago Botanic Garden is looking for a creative thinker excited about
providing opportunities for the public to engage in authentic research
through community science. The Budburst director will lead the
transformation of this phenology-based community science project, including
app development, regional and national expansion, and research
collaborations. The Budburst director will develop an active research
portfolio and is expected to produce original peer-reviewed findings with
the help of community scientists. The director will also oversee the
education and outreach aspects of Budburst, including implementation in
schools, natural areas such as parks and forest preserves, and museums and
botanic gardens across the country. In this position, you will work with
scientists at the Garden and across the country to develop a portfolio of
critical ecological research projects that bring researchers,
horticulturists, and community scientists together on a shared journey to
uncover the stories of plants and animals affected by human impacts on the
environment and tell those stories in ways that inspire conservation
action. This position is allocated 75 percent education and 25 percent
research, with work space available in both departments. The education
duties are outlined below. The research time is available for the
successful candidate to pursue their own research interests, participate in
graduate student supervision, etc.

*Position: Budburst Education Manager

This position will support the educational initiatives of the Budburst
Community Science program. In this position, you will develop curriculum,
train teachers, and support school districts, schools, teachers, and
students as they participate in Budburst and Budburst research projects.
You will work with partners in the Forest Preserves of Cook County to
implement the program at three nature centers (Sagawau, Little Red
Schoolhouse, River Trail) and support delivery of online classes through
the Community Science Academy. You will be a key member of a team of
passionate scientists and educators dedicated to engaging the public with
plants, science, and ecology.

*Location: Positions will be located at the Chicago Botanic Garden in
Glencoe, IL.

*Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
