Thanks for this article, Abby. It's great to see the familiar US gardens who have given safe harbor to priority US crop wild relatives. Intriguing comparison of crop gene bank holdings vs BG holdings -- pointing to BGs as potential sources of novel genetics. I knew that there were a large number of US species in foreign collections and so should not have been surprised, by the numbers of non-US BGs with US natives -- but I was. 🙂
I wasn't aware of the "Genesys" platform - do you know if this includes data on accessions held by CGIAR<https://www.cgiar.org/research/program-platform/genebank-platform/> as well?
Thanks,

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [PCA] Article: Botanic Gardens Are Important Contributors to Crop Wild Relative Preservation
In a special issue of the Crop Science journal focused on connecting agriculture, public gardens, and science<https://dl.sciencesocieties.org/publications/cs/tocs/59/6>, BGCI-US contributed an article entitled, “Botanic Gardens Are Important Contributors to Crop Wild Relative Preservation”.
The article<https://dl.sciencesocieties.org/publications/cs/articles/59/6/2404> summarizes results of an ex situ analysis conducted in partnership with the United States Botanic Garden, which demonstrate the important contributions botanic gardens make toward backing up U.S. and global crop wild relative species in ex situ collections.
Thanks!
