· USGS recently published the First Comprehensive List of
Non-Native Species Established in Three Major Regions of the United States,
the publication is USGS OFR 20181156 and is available online (

· The Bureau of Land Management contracted The National Academies
of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (National Academies) to design and
carry out an assessment of federal, state, tribal and private sector needs
and capacity for using and supplying native plant seeds for ecological
restoration and other purposes. The assessment will focus on the western
continental United States and incorporate information from assessments of
other U.S. regions, as available, towards the goal of a nationwide
perspective. For more information or to get involved email SeedNeeds at nas.edu

· Seeds of Success, managed by the BLM’s Plant Conservation and
Restoration Program, is featured in The Food and Agriculture Organization
of the United Nations (FAO) 2019 report: “The State of the World’s
Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture”. This report describes how native
plants make production systems and livelihoods more resilient to shocks and
stresses and highlights Seeds of Success as an example of restoring
biodiversity and resilience to landscapes following natural disasters, such
as drought, wildfire, and hurricanes. The report can be found at
http://www.fao.org/3/CA3129EN/CA3129EN.pdf
