National Park Service Lead Biological Science Technician (EPMT)

*Deadline: 04/26/2018

*Overview: Leads a field squad that is responsible for conducting exotic
plant control involving the use of chainsaws and herbicide application.
Instructs crews on standard procedures, implements treatments, collects and
organizes field data. Communicates effectively with supervisors,
subordinates and co-workers. Leads a multi-person field crew implementing
labor intensive natural resource related projects. Develops effective
professional working relationships with internal and external partners.
Conducts exotic plan inventories and performs post treatment monitoring
following exotic plant control. Collects and enters field data into
appropriate computer programs and assists crew supervisor with data
analysis. Provides project reconnaissance and development through site
visits. GPS data collection, and communication with collaborating agency's
personnel. Completes projects follow-up reconnaissance/treatment and
determines treatment efficacy and recommends beneficial changes to
treatment techniques. Safely handle, transport, mix and apply herbicides to
target weeds according to label restrictions. Operates, repairs and
maintains various herbicide sprayer application equipment. Safely operates,
repairs and maintains chainsaws while conducting natural resource related
projects. Removes exotic trees, brush and weeds using chainsaws, power
brush cutters and hand tools such as axes, hatchets, machetes, and handsaws.

*Location: Boulder City, NV

*Compensation: GS7 $41,766 to $54,295 per year

*Who may apply: 1. Current career or career conditional competitive service
employees with the Department of the Interior; 2. CTAP Eligibles; and 3.
Current or former time-limited employees eligible under the Land Management
Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA).
