The Jepson Herbarium at UC Berkeley offers a wide-array of workshops that are designed to accommodate both beginners and specialists. 

The workshops provide participants access to uniquely tailored content that is delivered by recognized experts. 

Workshops occur in a variety of formats including classroom lectures, lab activities, and extended field excursions.

Fire Ecology in the Central Sierra Nevada
September 24-27
Explore how fire functioned historically in the Sierra Nevada and how it works today. Compare how the effects of fire on natural communities in areas where fire has been restored as a natural process differ from areas where fire has been suppressed. The workshop will be grounded in fire physics, fire history studies, and modern fire effects studies.

Restoration Ecology
October 17-18
Areas that once supported extensive habitat have often experienced drastic changes, making the return of historic ecosystems extremely challenging. Adapting to these challenges is a central pursuit of restoration ecologists and restoration practitioners. 
This workshop will approach work in modified systems through the lens of water, soil and people.

Evolution and Diversity of Mushrooms
December 11-13
California is is one of the best places in North America to find to find abundant, diverse fungi. This workshop will provide an introduction to the biology and identification of California’s mushrooms. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, and field trips, participants will study the evolutionary history of fungi and the ecological role of fungi in nature.
