*Subject:* *2015 "Developing the Next Generation of Conservationists"
Funding Program Now Open for Proposals!! Proposals Due December 16, 2014*

 Colleagues –

I’m delighted to share with you the great news that the 2015 “*Developing
the Next Generation of Conservationists*” (NextGen) Request for Proposals
is now open, and accepting proposals through *December 16, 2014*.
http://www.nfwf.org/youth/Pages/home.aspx

This funding opportunity is led by the National Fish and Wildlife
Foundation and is supported by the USFS, BLM, BOR and private sponsors. The
effort is aligned with the 21st Century Conservation Service Corps (21CSC)
<http://21csc.org/> and provides nearly $2,000,000 in funding to support
innovative partnerships that provide meaningful conservation employment for
young people. In 2015, the Forest Service has committed $405,000 to support
projects that benefit Forest Service lands and program. These federal funds
must be matched at least 1:1 with non-federal contributions.

I encourage you to review the attached RFP and visit the NFWF NextGen
website at http://www.nfwf.org/youth/Pages/home.aspx to see if you might
have opportunities that align with this program. I’ve attached a .pdf of
the 2014 NextGen projects to provide examples of the diversity of youth
employment partnerships supported last year. In 2014, NextGen reached
nearly 600 young people, and invested nearly $6,000,000 in youth employment
in conservation!

The attached RFP and website provide detailed information about this
funding opportunity—key items to consider include:

· *Eligibility* – FS units cannot directly submit proposals, but
partners must work closely with FS units in the development of proposals.
21CSC partner organizations will be given priority for FS funding.

· *Funding* - $50,000 limit on proposals; although projects that
partner across agencies may be larger. Cross-agency partners are strongly
encouraged! All federal funds must be matched at least 1:1 with
non-federal contributions.

· *Process* – Proposals are developed and submitted online through
the http://www.nfwf.org/youth/Pages/home.aspx website. The FS will engage
in a thorough field review of projects in making recommendations for
funding. Project selections are anticipated in early Spring 2015.

I encourage you to share this information broadly with your partner
networks! If you have questions, please contact me, *Sandy Frost* (
