For all you native plant outreach and educator people!
If I'm reading this opportunity correctly...
A series of brochures have been developed to provide guidance in
developing environmental education (EE) programs. Five small grants will
be awarded to conduct training based on any of the brochures - in addition
to the cash award, free copies of the publication will be provided as well
as providing a trainer and associated travel funds.
Topic areas include:
Overall Guidelines for Excellence
Guidelines for K-12
Guidelines for educators
Guidelines for nonformal EE programs
Early childhood
The weblink (eelinked.net/n/guidelines) also discusses crosswalks between
the guidelines and state academic standards. So far, Oregon, Maine, and
Texas are crosswalked. And there are core curriculum crosswalks at:
http://eelinked.naaee.net/n/guidelines (i.e., organized by Math, English,
etc.).
Eligible recipients: NAAEE Affiliate, EECapacity State Consortia member,
or other Not-for-Profit
Deadline for application: November 1, 2012; training should be held by
June 30, 2013
Looks like an interesting opportunity. See the message below for further
details - and good luck!

EE Guidelines Small Grant Opportunity
What? Small Grant to Sponsor a EE Guidelines Workshop
The National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education, initiated
by NAAEE in 1993, has created a series of publications that provide
guidance for the development of high-quality environmental education.
Each
of these publications was developed by a diverse team of professionals,
and each has gone through a substantive review by thousands of
professionals prior to its publication (eelinked.net/n/guidelines).
Five small grants will be awarded (pending final funding approval from
EPA) in cooperation with EECapacity and the University of Oregon. The
grants are meant to help defray the costs of conducting guidelines
training with a focus on how they can be used in an urban context.
Trainings can focus on any of the Guidelines publications (i.e., the
entire set, a specific publication, or some combination of publications).
Workshops can be designed as general professional development, as a means
of building partnerships or for a specific audience (e.g., Head Start,
Minority Academic Institution faculty members).
Eligibility? NAAEE Affiliate, EECapacity State Consortia member, or
other
Not-for-Profit
How Much? Up to $1000
The cash award (up to $1000) is meant to defray costs of organizing and
holding the workshop (e.g., staff time, advertising, facility rental,
supplies, coffee breaks, lunch).
In addition to the cash award, the project will provide:
§ free copies of the Guidelines publication(s) for all
participants
§ pay the travel costs for a Guidelines for Excellence trainer to
facilitate the workshop (if needed).
Who will facilitate the training?
The project will help you recruit a member of the Guidelines Trainer's
Bureau to facilitate the workshop (no cost to you). The National Project
for Excellence in EE has established the Guidelines Trainer's Bureau as a
way of offering expanded opportunities to learn about the Guidelines.
Guidelines Trainer's Bureau members have received specialized training
and
are available to give presentations to a variety of audiences on the
Guidelines and how these publications can be used to enhance the quality
of environmental education practice. To see a listing of Guidelines
Trainers? Bureau members by state visit:
http://eelinked.naaee.net/n/guidelines/topics/Guidelines-Trainers-Bureau
If a Guidelines Trainers? Bureau member facilitates the workshop, the
project will also cover reasonable travel costs for the workshop
facilitator.
How Many Grants will be Awarded? Five small grants will be awarded
Deadlines? Application due on November 12, 2012
Hold the training by June 30, 2013 [could be extended, depending on
circumstances]
