OUTREACH NOTICE
The Rocky Mountain Research Station (RMRS) will soon be advertising for a
permanent, full-time Research Conservation Biologist, GS-0404/0440/0408-11
or GS-12 for the Grassland, Shrubland and Desert Ecosystems Science
Program. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: When the position is advertised on USA

MAJOR DUTIES: Key functions of the position include: The scientist will
conduct research to provide native plant materials adapted to current and
projected future environmental conditions in the Great Basin. Research may
also include examination of species vulnerabilities, interactions among
native species and between native and invasive species, and adaptive
responses to environmental change, The employee will also participate in
administration of the Great Basin Native Plant Selection and Increase
Project, a highly collaborative, multi-agency research program sponsored
by the USDI Bureau of Land Management to increase the availability of
genetically-diverse, regionally-adapted native plant materials,
particularly broadleaf herbs for this region and the technology required
for their use (Website:

scientist will publish results in peer-reviewed journals, proceedings, and
reports and will actively transfer findings to land managers, restoration
ecologists, seed producers, nurserymen, and other 2 of 3 appropriate
audiences through a variety of media. Consultation and research
collaboration at the national and international level is also encouraged.
