Does your organization need handy tips for planning a conservation landscape that is environmentally beneficial in your local watershed? Are you aware that there is a national program for sustainable sites which is similar to the LEEDT certification program but applies to all types of sites? Are you seeking new ways to promote conservation landscaping practices?

Come to this exciting workshop -- Landscaping for a Healthy Bay -- on Thursday, November 11 thru Friday, November 12, 2010, to increase the value of what you learn at the Chesapeake Watershed Forum held at the National Conservation and Training Center, Shepherdstown, WV.

Check out the agenda and register at http://allianceforthebay.org/?page_id=823
Oct 12 is last day of early registration!

Conservation Landscaping for a Healthy Bay (Pre-Forum Workshop) Only $85*

In this workshop, you will learn about the best landscaping practices for protecting the Chesapeake Bay, known as "conservation landscaping." Learn how Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council's Eight Essential Elements of Conservation Landscaping help focus planning, so projects will be the most environmentally beneficial.

Are you familiar with sustainable building LEEDT certification? Now there is a similar program for landscaping - hear about the new nationwide landscaping standards developed under the Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES). Listen to case studies of existing programs. Engage in a thinking session and practical activities that will help you to apply lessons learned to promote conservation landscaping practices in your watersheds.

Learn how to evaluate a site for the suitable type of landscape to use as a model for planting design. A hands-on outdoor site assessment exercise will take classroom ideas into practice for planning and designing projects. Take home ideas, resources, and more, and get your communities started today on "planting your way to a healthier Bay."
