>From the Torrey Botanical Society:

We are pleased to announce the success of the first-ever New York City Wildflower Week, which was held May 3-10, 2008 and hosted by the Torrey Botanical Society.

Thousands of New Yorkers participated in the many diverse events of this inaugural week. Hundreds of free wildflowers and thousands of free tote bags filled with information about native plants were distributed to the public. Hundreds toured the Native Plant Display Garden in Union Square Park, where the wildflower display was flanked by whimsical seven foot sunflowers. Botanical walks and talks led by native plant experts educated New Yorkers throughout the week.
