[PCA] Native Coreopsis Genetics - PhD Assistantship

A PhD graduate assistantship is available in the Landscape and
Ornamental Plant Breeding and Genetics Program in the Environmental
Horticulture Department at the University of Florida's Gulf Coast
Research and Education Center, Wimauma, Florida.  The candidate will
conduct research on trait inheritance, genetic diversity, and gene flow
of Coreopsis species (Florida's state wildflower) using both traditional
and molecular approaches.  Course work will take place on the main
campus in Gainesville while research will be off campus at the Research
and Education Center in Wimauma, 20 miles southeast of Tampa.  The
assistantship, which includes a competitive stipend and tuition waiver,
is available starting January 2007.  Graduate students with training in
botany, plant genetics and breeding, horticulture, ecology, or closely
related fields are encouraged to apply.  Interested students must submit
their CV, transcripts, GRE scores, TOEFL score (international students
only), cover letter highlighting qualifications and research interests,
and three letters of reference to Zhanao Deng,

information must be received no later than November 15, 2006.
Applicants must also apply for admission into the Graduate School to be
