Announcement of a Forthcoming Position at the Tennessee Division of
Natural Heritage, Rare Plant Protection Program  Title:  Environmental
Specialist 3  Start Date: Spring/Summer 2005Monthly Rate:  The
entry-level salary is $2,477 per month plus state benefits
package.Hours:  Full-time  Position RESPONSIBILITIES: The Tennessee
Department of Environment and Conservation, Division of Natural
Heritage, Rare Plant Protection Program anticipates hiring a working
level full-time Environmental Specialist 3 to support the listing and
recovery projects pertaining to plant species of federal concern within
Tennessee.  The successful candidate will report to and be supervised by
the program manager.  The successful candidate will assist the program
manager in planning projects; conducting field research, monitoring and
fieldwork; writing reports; managing and analyzing data; implementing
the State Ginseng Program; providing public outreach and technical
assistance; and other tasks as necessary for the purposes of recovering
plant species of federal concern within Tennessee.  The position will be
stationed in Nashville, Tennessee.  Interested applicants should submit
a state application form as indicated below.  REQUIREMENTS:  Graduation
from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in
environmental science, biology, botany or other acceptable field and two
years of fulltime professional environmental program work.  Qualifying
fulltime environmental program experience may substitute for the
required education, on a year for year basis, to a maximum of four
years.  Graduate coursework in environmental science, biology, botany or
other acceptable field may be substituted for the required experience,
on a year for year basis, to a maximum of one year (24 semester hours is
equivalent to one year).  Or two years fulltime professional
environmental program work with the State of Tennessee.  An applicant
with knowledge of the flora of the Tennessee region and experience in
collecting and identifying plants, plant ecology, plant conservation,
plant population biology, or conducting ecological vegetation management
will be preferable.   APPLICATION: Any interested candidate should send
