POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Title: Marketing Campaign Manager, Sustainable Agriculture Division
Reports to: Marketing Manager, Sustainable Agriculture Division
Location: New York City

The Rainforest Alliance (RA) is an international nonprofit organization
dedicated to protecting ecosystems and the people and wildlife that live
within them by transforming land-use practices, business practices and
consumer behavior. Companies, cooperatives and landowners that participate
in our programs meet rigorous standards that conserve biodiversity and
provide sustainable livelihoods

The Sustainable Agriculture Division of the Rainforest Alliance is the
international secretariat of the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN), a
coalition of independent Latin American conservation and rural development
groups which promote sustainable agriculture as an alternative for
development and conservation of the major commodity crops (bananas, coffee
cocoa, citrus, flowers) that have widespread and profound influence on the
economies, environments, cultures and politics of tropical countries.  RA
and SAN manage a regional program to guide, motivate and verify social and
environmental improvements on farms, awarding a seal of approval
(Rainforest Alliance Certified) to farms that meet comprehensive
standards.

Summary of Position:
The Marketing Campaign Manager will raise consumer awareness for the
Rainforest Alliance Certified products by supporting the promotional
efforts of our private sector partners with an emphasis on retail chains,
as well as restaurants, hotels and institutional venues, to increase their
sales of Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee, bananas and other
agricultural products (strong emphasis on coffee). S/he will communicate
the RA message to consumers and other stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide creative support to participating companies in developing
product packaging, brochures, PoS materials and ad copy;
- Coordinate promotional campaigns, public relations and events with
participating coffee and food companies, supermarkets, restaurant and
hotel chains;
- Hire and manage outside PR firm(s) to develop Certified Sustainable
Marketing Campaign toolkits for North American, UK and Japanese markets;
- Maintain creative files/ RA portfolio on companies with examples of
artwork and ad copy;
- Work with marketing manager and sustainable agriculture division staff
to develop and refine marketing strategy for certified agricultural
products;
- Respond to inquires from consumers, companies and activists as needed;
and
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Marketing, Public Relations or
related field;
- A minimum of 3-5 years work experience in consumer marketing, public
relations or advertising field;
NGO work experience a plus;
- Proven experience developing promotional campaigns related to food
products;
- Ability to communicate a complex message and adapt message to key
consumer markets and market segments;
- Must have excellent writing and verbal communications skills;
- Must have excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet
Photoshop, etc);
- Knowledge of PowerPoint and presentation skills;
- Requires ability to work within a team structure as well as
independently, be creative, take initiative, be attentive to detail and
possess excellent interpersonal communication skills;
- Spanish or French language skills a plus;
- Awareness of and commitment to conservation and environmental issues;
- Dependability and good organizational skills necessary; and
- Willingness to travel 20% of time.
