Dear Fellow Members,
FREE Forum "THE STATE OF THE MASSACHUSETTS ENVIRONMENT"
Please join us for this important update!
Co-sponsored by New England Wild Flower Society Thursday, October 14, in
Wellesley at Mass Bay Community College, 7-9 p.m. Why is Massachusetts
losing its position of leadership in environmental protection, and what we
can do about it? Jim Gomes, President of the Environmental League of
Massachusetts will deliver his State of Environment address followed by
remarks by four of our region's leading environmental thinkers and an open
discussion with citizens in attendance. Join us and learn how we can help
reverse the trend!
For decades, Massachusetts has been in the the vanguard on environmental
protection. The first state laws to protect wetlands, prevent acid rain,
and reduce the use of toxic chemicals all happened in the Bay State. One
of the most extensive systems of state and metropolitan parks is found
here. Jim will alert us to how the state is failing to meet its
responsibilities to the environment and will outline what must happen to
improve the situation.
