The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) updated their free primer to provide the herbal industry with the latest information on the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The May 2020 update includes additional species and annotations added to the CITES Appendices since its original publication.

CITES is a international agreement between 179 countries on specific requirements for the international trade of certain plant and animal species. These requirements are aimed at ensuring international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival.

AHPA is a national trade association founded in 1982. AHPA's mission is to promote the responsible commerce of herbal products to ensure that consumers continue to enjoy informed access to a wide variety of herbal goods.
