[MPWG] Plant propagation changes in EU

Greetings all,

Below is a notification from Henriette Kress, moderator for an
international herbal list serve I am part of.
Please read what's happening in Europe right now.

What happens there could eventually happen here.

This is up for voting in the EU parliament soon:

What it means is:
* only registered seeds (or other plant propagation methods) will be allowed
* registering a seed species, form, variety etc. costs money
* registered seed species, form, variety etc. needs to be registered again
  every year, which costs money

If this goes through as proposed, it means the end to a LOT of small plant
providers, tree providers and pretty much all variety in gardening and plant
growing.

It favors the large while hampering the small.

If you're in the EU, please write to your MEP today: if you don't, the only
voices they'll hear are those of lobbyists, who certainly won't talk for the
people, for small companies, for variety.

It might be of value to sign this petition, too, but the MEPs need to hear
that this needs to be stopped.

If you're not in the EU, feel free to sign the petition: the more the
merrier.
