Dear Medicinal Plant Working Group Members:

This marks the ninth year that MPWG has worked with federal land managers
to monitor medicinal plants on public land with the help of VOLUNTEERS
LIKE YOU!

WHERE AND WHEN?
June 28-30 (near Harrisonburg, VA)
and
July 19-21 (near Marion, VA)

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
Sustainability! Black cohosh is harvested for use in medicinal
preparations to combat the symptoms of menopause! These projects are
conducted on federal land and will assist us in understanding how this
species responds to harvest over time.

NO EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED!
All you need is an interest in plants and a desire to get outdoors! You?ll
be part of a team comprised of a science leader and other volunteers.
Teams work together for about 2.5 days assessing plots where black cohosh
grows in the wild - you'll learn new skills (using cool hand-held data
recorders), meet new people, and play an important role in the
conservation of your very own native flora!

Hope to see you there!
