	Hi Steven,

The FairWild Certification (and mark) is applicable globally
although there are no wild herbal products yet in the U.S. market
with the label. We hope to have a couple of FairWild Certified
products in the market by end of 2008, but none of these so far will
originate in the U.S.

While social accountability and fair trade are the primary focus of
the FairWild Standards, in order to ensure sustainability in the wild
collection system, FairWild was developed as an additional module to
the ecologically focused management criteria defined in the
aforementioned ISSC-MAP. This standard defines guidelines and
provides tools to the collectors and producers for the planning and
implementation of a sustainable resource management system – a
guarantee for constant and reliable supply of raw materials for
industry and traders. Under the FairWild Standards, organic
certification of the wild collection practices is also accepted as
“minimum demonstration of ecologically sound production
practices.” Our expectation is that entry into FairWild can utilize
organic certification for wild crops initially as only a minimum
indicator with the goal of reaching conformance to the ISSC-MAP over
time, perhaps over a few years time.

Info on FairWild certification is available at:
http://www.fairwild.org [1]. Info on ISSC-MAP is available at:
http://www.floraweb.de/proxy/floraweb/map-pro [2]. And further
information on both is available from the independent inspector and
certifier IMO (http://www.imo.ch [3]) who conducts audits at wild
collection sites for organic wild, FairWild, and ISSC-MAP
conformance. We have worked with our raw material supplier and IMO at
two wild collection sites in particular for combined organic wild (EU
and NOP), FairWild inspections, and preliminary ISSC-MAP audits.
