Dear colleagues, apologies for typos in my previous posting, here is a corrected version.
Please forward, thank you.?

Herbalists Without Borders (HWB) seeks a principal researcher for the following study:

Eucalyptus essential oil as an alternative to synthetic pesticide application for prevention of malaria using treated netting

Recent studies have found that use of insecticide-treated mosquito netting reduced child deaths from malaria in Kenya by 40% over a five year study period.?The study compliments a 2005 WHO/UNICEF joint statement, "Protecting vulnerable groups in malaria-epidemic areas in Africa through accellerated deployment of insecticide-treated nets" ( http://www.afro.who.int/malaria/publications/who_unicef_joint_statement.pdf?), which calls for widespread distribution of free or heavily subsidized, WHO-approved?long-lasting insecticide-treated nets.? HWB wishes to?study the effectiveness and economic viability of essential oil-treated netting with vulnerable groups in Honduras, as compared to treatment found in Kenya using?currently WHO-approved insecticide-treated nets.? While multiple treatments and supplemental steam vapor methods may be required, the ready availability and ease of production at the village scale in Honduras make eucalyptus and other essential oils with pesticidal actions attractive as?alternatives to government- or otherwise subsidized insecticidal treatments.

Interested graduate student?or independent researchers willing and able to help seek funding for or to?financially subsidize their own travel and other expenses for?this work please send resume and cover letter to info at herbalistswithoutborders.org.???
