Vermont Elderberry Project
Saturday July 16 ~ release of two elderberry cultivars, Coomer & Berry
Hill, from the stock of Lewis Hill
The elderberry has long been used in Native America and in the Vermont
farm kitchen, as plant medicine, for jam and wine, for stream bed
erosion control, and as food for birds.

The two elderberry cultivars are planted near each other for cross
pollination and fruit set. Lewis Hill will talk about his years of
raising elderberries, the development of these cultivars, where to plant
and care for them. There is no charge for the talk, a $24 fee includes
the two cultivars. 10 AM, Honey Gardens Apiaries, 5335 Route 7,
Ferrisburgh (1/2 mile south of Dakin Farm, ½ hour south of Burlington, a
few miles north of Vergennes) For more information, contact Honey
Gardens, 802.985.5852, www.honeygardens.com
