FYI:

The following message came over the Plant Conservation Alliance (PCA)
listserve today. Although the Medicinal Plant Working Group (MPWG) is part
of the PCA, the listserve manager attempts to minimize sending duplicate
messages on multiple lists. So, for those of you who are not on the PCA
mailing list, I think you will find this message of interest.

ALSO: You might want to take the opportunity to review which lists you are
signed up for (there are at least five lists associated with PCA). The
Plant Conservation Alliance website is at: http://www.nps.gov/plants/

>From the main page, the section entitled, "On-line communication" has all
the discussion lists available through PCA.

Adkins Arboretum on Maryland's eastern shore is sponsoring stipends for
research and two summer internship positions.  Applications are due March 1
for research stipends and March 15 for internships.

Research stipendsare for postdoctoral, graduate or advanced undergraduate
research projects related to the conservation of native plants of the
Delmarva peninsula.  Research in botany, ecology, forestry, horticulture,
plant genetics, landscape architecture, geography or other areas supporting
the Arboretum's mission will be considered. The maximum award is $2,000.
Awards historically have ranged from $500 to $1,500.  For more information
please go to http://www.adkinsarboretum.org/stipend.html.

Internshipsare for two environmental science or public horticulture
interns. Interns will work with professional staff on garden maintenance,
plant propagation, and seed collection as well as plant record keeping,
plant community data collection, invasive plant removal, grounds
maintenance, and assisting with educational programs and special events.
Interns are encouraged to conduct an independent project in horticulture,
ecological research, or environmental education. Field trips to area parks,
natural areas and gardens and participation in public programs are part of
the internship. This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain a broad
range of experiences working in a small non-profit organization.  For more
information on internships go to http://www.adkinsarboretum.org/intern.html
.
