Applications are invited from interested and suitably qualified persons to fill the Invasive Plant Project Field Coordinator position at the Department of Natural Resources, Anguilla.

Job Mandate
Responsible for the effective coordination and leadership of the field programme of the Department of Natural Resources’ Darwin Plus project “Protecting Anguilla’s biodiversity by building capacity in invasive plant management (DPLUS125)”. The post-holder will work closely with and report to the Project Manager.
*Duties: Responsible for the effective coordination and leadership of the field programme of the Department of Natural Resources’ Darwin Plus project “Protecting Anguilla’s biodiversity by building capacity in invasive plant management (DPLUS125)”. The post-holder will work closely with and report to the Project Manager.

Key Tasks
Lead the implementation of the invasive plant field programme of the Darwin Plus project, to ensure outputs are achieved on target and on time:
 Deliver an invasive plant management field programme including annual work plans, plant surveys, target species control trials, target species management planning and implementation (including for total eradication where feasible), and monitoring.
 Supervise the daily work of the Invasive Plant Assistant and supervision and coordination of field volunteers.
 Participate in in training, along with the Invasive Plant Assistant and local collaborators, on plant identification, research, survey and monitoring, management planning, and control and eradication techniques, as required.
 Coordinate with the Project Manager to prepare the project budget for the above activities, including submission of requests for equipment and materials.
 Monitor, record and evaluate of the project’s field activities and results, especially progress towards eradication or other targets.
 Coordinate with the Project Manager, liaise with local stakeholders and coordinate project actions with them.
 Assist with the design, production and dissemination of communication, education and awareness materials.
 Contribute the development of biosecurity protocols, an Invasive Plant Strategy to guide future work, and a simple, locally relevant Weed Control Manual, summarising the procedures used and lessons learned from the project.
 Provide reports on project field activities as required and in a format suitable for sharing with the Project Steering Committee and Technical Advisory Group.

Qualifications, skills, abilities, experience and competencies required for the role
 Degree in biology, agriculture, or similar environmental field;
 At least 5 years’ experience of biological surveys and/or environmental management;
 Experience in successfully managing field projects, including planning, budgeting, implementation, analysis, and delivering project outcomes.
 Demonstrable experience working with teams and multiple stakeholder groups;
 Experience in managing people and sharing skills;
 Excellent oral and written communication skills (in English), scientific and analytical skills and report writing skills
 Experience working in a multi-cultural environment preferred;
 Valid driver’s licence.

Salary and Conditions
 The post is based in Anguilla
 Up to XCD $70,000 (equivalent to USD $26,200) depending on qualifications and experience.
 For candidates who are non-residents of Anguilla, a housing allowance of 50% of rental cost up to XCD $1000/PCM and a relocation package including annual return flight to country of origin, visa/permit costs and shipping of personal effects up to XCD $2,000 at start and end of the contract.
 The contract will start as soon as possible and is expected to be for 1.5 to 2 years depending on start date and completion of a 3-month probationary period.
