I recently received an e-mail from a woman in the U.K. who, as part of a 
larger discussion of nature, told me about the problem of American mink in 
her country. In a later e-mail the issue of invasive skunk cabbage was 
raised; she wasn't as excited about them as I was since they were 
destroying her local wetlands. It turns out that our backyard nature is 
showing up in other people's backyards and proving to be unwelcome.
