Has anyone read about or studied the relationship between Lyme disease and alien plants?
I read an article on ticks, "Tale of the Tick," by Dave Mance III in the Spring 2008 issue of the magazine Northern Woods.
Mance mentions that the Maine Medical Research Center has found that the number of ticks doubles in an ecosystem "where invasive shrubs such as Japanese barberry and Eurasian honeysuckle exist. These shrubs propagate rapidly due to a lack of natural control factors, creating the kind of dense shelter that is perfect mouse and tick habitat."
