All,
If you're in the DC area next Thursday, it would be great to have some
back-up on the risks associated with invasive plants used as biofuels.

Thanks,
Lee

GREEN GASOLINE: AN ALTERNATIVE ALTERNATE FUEL

                          Thursday, October 4, 2007
                              12:00Noon-1:30PM
                     2325 Rayburn House Office Building

As ethanol becomes available at the pump, questions have surfaced about how
sustainable this alternative fuel can be. Now, an increasing number of
researchers are turning their attention to green gasoline, a fuel that will
be less expensive to produce, has a much higher gas mileage than E85 flex
fuel, will require less water to manufacture and will fit almost seamlessly
into the existing energy infrastructure. Produced from plants, green
gasoline is virtually identical to the fuel we use each day, yet because it
comes from biomass growing in fields, it may have a nearly net zero carbon
footprint. The briefing will provide a short overview of how gasoline,
diesel and jet fuel can be produced from plants, how the small business
community is driving creative technologies to ease green gasoline
production, and how industry is already re-tooling some operations to
develop this fuel option.
