Beach returns to its roots
The ice plant that has covered the bluffs along The Strand in Manhattan 
Beach is being replaced with plants that are native to the area.

Turns out, ice plant, while definitely lush and vibrant, is only green in 
color.

So volunteers are busy replacing some of the stubborn succulents covering 
Manhattan Beach's coastal bluff with more environmentally friendly native 
dune plants that will use less water and help stop soil erosion.
